Sometimes, it's just too damn hot. Back in Minnesota, beating the heat meant walking to the local swimming hole. In the Utah desert, it's a bit more complicated.

Despite our Office of Tourism doing their best to convince folks to take a dip in the heavily polluted Great Salt Lake, most opt to make a pilgrimage to snow-fed reservoirs and rivers to satisfy the occasional natatorial urge.

This past August, we made one such pilgrimage to a section of the Weber River near Henefer. After applying sunscreen & TACTICAL NIP GLITTER™, we set off for an afternoon of lazy river boozin'.

After surviving a series of rapids & a low bridge crossing (RIP to the skin on Andrew's nose), we were rewarded with a rickety rope swing into shallow water. Ever the optimists, we took our chances.

Many beers and a "wee" break later (see inset), we ran the final set of rapids & emerged at the Taggart's exit - slightly waterlogged, but cool and satisfied.
